I was genuinely surprised with this deal.
@jdtillman I thought Rodgers was a real possibility if Purdy held out for a ridiculous contract. Then they gave him a ridiculous contract without a holdout.

@keith Bless him! I don't begrudge him his contract. I just wouldn't have given it to him.
I don't begrudge anyone what the market seems to dictate. However, as I've gotten older, I have not lost sight of the insane amount of money these guys make to play a sport compared to the income for policemen, firemen, teachers, etc.
@jdtillman NL CYA winner Mike Marshall — kinesiology expert and baseball iconoclast — told kids who asked for his autograph that he wanted an autograph of their teachers in return.
